January 17,2013; Texting In Class

So every student does it, that's no secret. I hate it when students complain how they got their phone taken away in class because they were on it. Seriously? They over use these excuses, it's so annoying,  "I was checking the time," "I was texting my mom", "I thought my phone was ringing, I needed to check it." Teachers are not stupid. We have clocks in the classroom, that's why we have the office an a school phone in case parents needed to get a hold of their child. If any student is going to text in class, they have to be smooth about it. I've had my phone taken away one time. Did I complain about it? Absolutely not, I knew what I was doing, so I handed it over no problem. Do I text all the time in class? No, I honestly don't. When I do it's usually at the beginning of class before the teacher is even in the room or in between classes because we get five minutes. My phone is a major distraction, but I'm responsible with it. I'm not going to whip it out in a the middle of an assignment and start texting  my sister. My eyesight is so bad that i can't hold my phone down to text or even read a text. I have to hold it close to my face so there is really no point in me to even try and text in class. I'm a senior anyway, my schedule is so easy the kindergarten students are jealous. I have a lot of free time on my hands and i normally use that to do my homework or study but on occasion I use that time to play Sims 3. Anyway, to conclude my rant for the day my advise to any young being that wants to be rebellious in class... save it for your parents, you're going to get caught, and you're going to get in trouble for you snappy attitude about it. You're welcome!

  1. I like everything you said. It's all true there is really know point in trying to text in class because all the teachers look for phones because they all know that we do it. I know the only time I text in school is at lunch and when I do my tutering when a kid does not need help and when I am not wotching the cless for the teacher. I am like you when it comes to kids getting mad at the teacher for taking the phone because that kid shoud have known that at some point he or she was going to get it taken away.
